■Over 50 years of providing balancing services for a wide variety of industries has helped Cox & Sprague hone our techniques for solving some tricky problems. Since every job -and every customer- is different, we keep meeting new challenges in balancing.

■Dynamic balancing is a very specialized area of machining, and there aren't many reference texts on the subject. So the terms of our trade are often confusing. It's up to us to make sure we have a mutual understanding of job requirements with our customers, but we have sometimes noticed that these terminology differences can slow down the job.

■We prepared this guide to explain our interpretations of the basic terms and concepts necessary for efficient buying and specifying of balancing services. We hope it will be helpful to you or someone on your staff.
